An Eventful Weekend

It's been a full weekend. Thursday was Marisa's graduation from preschool. :-)
She was very excited about her graduation, but I wasn't prepared for her emotions as we walked out of the preschool that day. After 3 years of preschool she was very aware she wasn't coming back. She had a VERY sad look on her face and was almost in tears as we pulled away, cranking her head back to get a last glimpse of the school. :-( It was hard to see her so sad.

Friday morning we left the house bright and early at 6:15 to get to the surgery center where Victor was having yet another surgery. This is the 5th surgery he's had since I've known him and he had a few before that too ... he is falling apart. But we won't talk about the surgery he's refusing to have ... Oh, back to Friday - this time it was knee surgery. His knee is doing fine, but this morning (Father's Day) he threw his back out, so he's in terrible pain from his back. Did I mention he's falling apart?

And Saturday was my birthday! Yeah - my favourite day of the year - usually.
Victor felt terrible that I had to play nurse all day - and that I was really supposed to be in Minneapolis at my brothers wedding - away for 6 days without children - and since I was supposed to be away he didn't get me anything ... so I did what any respectful woman would do. I ate a whole box of candy, made brownies and ate them with chocolate icecream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. And since I don't like to sin alone, we invited some neighbors over to share in the gluttony.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday Debbie! I wish that I was there to eat brownies with you! I'll make some and eat some anyways, just because I'm that good of a friend!

I counted the candles on the cake and found some interesting combinations in trying to figure out the age. From my eyesight, which could be failing (as my age is similar to yours) there were 9 candles on one side, and 7 on the other. Thus you turned sweet 16 - not very likely. The only other options are, either, 97 or 79 - so the question I'm left with is, which one? Based on your comments concerning Victor and his [failing] health, I'm assuming you're both about the same age :)

The candles were to form the numbers 4 and 3. It didn't really look like 43, but I didn't really care at that point. But no, I'm not 79 or 97.

Very cool blog! Too bad that your husband is falling apart. Do you find that it's hard to get spare parts for that model? And there's an operation he refuses to have ... hm, well, I'd think you'd have a way to make him change his mind. In any case, I'll talk to him about it.

Happy late birthday Debbie! WE should go out and have some wine! Or iced tea?
